Apple Wellbeing recently visited our sports college and provided health screening for our staff. The service they provided was totally professional and the manner in which the screening took place instantly put staff at ease. The impact this health screening has had is huge, with many more staff starting to utilise the new fitness suite and consciously think about a change in their lifestyles.

As a school it was vital that a process like this was flexible and allowed our normal school day to function without disruption and this was achieved through being able to conduct the screening and consultation in 20 minute slots. We will definitely be inviting Apple Well Being back into school for a 6 month check up and would definitely recommend this service to any other schools or educational establishments.

It looks as if they did me a big favour. My cholesterol check was high when they did it but I thought this was because it was afternoon and we had been eating (despite doing the EPA mad hours associated with work). Apparently not. I have just been to the doctors for the results of my blood tests which again came in very high. I am now on the ‘at risk’ register - just in case - and I have to take tablets immediately to sort it out.

My experience of the tests was that they were carried out in a friendly and relaxed manner, with no physical pain attached. What discomfort was evident only in my confessions as to drinking and other lifestyle details. They were, however very reassuring, and confident that I should be good for a few years yet with careful maintenance. All in all it was a confidence building exercise, rather than doom and gloom. I am looking forward to the follow ups at regular intervals to make sure that rapid deterioration is not happening.

Apple Wellbeing have had an ongoing partnership with South Yorkshire Police for more than two and a half years. Throughout this time Apple Wellbeing have provided the force with a number of services from health screenings and workshops to health fairs.

Due to the overwhelming success of Apple Wellbeing, regular visits to police stations around Sheffield were organised. Apple Wellbeing visits are now organised bi-monthly with various departments including Headquarters, Vehicle Fleet Unit, Communications Centre and various stations.

All bookings are organised through Apple Wellbeing via phone call or email. This takes all administration away from the force ensuring minimal disruption.

The benefits to the police force are numerous and from my own experience I can vouch to the \"feel good factor\" that this health initiative brings to the individual.

Due to the success of this programme we are delighted to be able to commit to this partnership for the future and I am more than willing to endorse the services of Apple Wellbeing to other organisations.

I recently arranged health screening for staff working in the South Yorkshire Police Communications Centre, this is in conjunction with a Well-being project I am overseeing. I attended a breakfast seminar to gain knowledge of the procedure, which i found very informative and in a nice informal setting. Apple Wellbeing provided me with posters to display in our building and also arranged the appointments for the day, obviously making organising much easier. The day ran smoothly, and the feedback I have had is extremely positive, I hope to arrange this again in six months time for other staff and also follow ups.

Thank you for carrying out the Workshops and Health Screening Tests for our employees.

The Nutrition and Exercise workshops run by one of your Senior Consultants were very informative and well presented. Feedback from those who took part was very positive and an encouraging precursor to the testing.

We were particularly impressed with the way in which Apple Wellbeing`s consultants carried out the health tests. Their time management was excellent, especially when you consider they were dealing with 60 employees in a relatively short period. Careful scheduling, with no delays, meant that the testing process ran smoothly and did not disrupt the running of our business. As you will appreciate, for a company of our size this is an important consideration.

At Hughes we try to make life interesting for our employees, it`s a great motivator and, I`m sure you`ll agree can have a positive effect on general health. With this in mind, and with your help, we decided to nominate the healthiest male and female members of staff. Apple Wellbeing`s co-operation was yet another example of the extra effort Apple Wellbeing put in to make the whole exercise a success.

The individuals selected as the healthiest were then mocked up as a `Superman` and `Wonder Woman` and were presented with a certificate and a cut-glass trophy.

The culmination of Apple Wellbeing`s hard work was, of course, the individual health test report supplied to each member of staff. It was certainly informative and no doubt helpful in persuading everyone to live a much healthier life. The follow-up recommended for a few members of staff went as smoothly as the initial testing and the subsequent report was very useful.

Together with my employees, I would like to thank Apple Wellbeing once again for such a professional job. Your understanding of the demands on the business environment and your management of a busy schedule ensured that the workshops and testing were completed without affecting the smooth running of our business.

Employee health is an important issue and one we all take seriously. With Apple Wellbeing`s help we have hopefully persuaded everyone to give a little more thought to healthy living, now and in the future.

I cannot believe I have not written before now to THANK YOU both for doing our first Office Wellbeing check - I think the staff that took part all appreciated the advice given and i have had some excellent feedback, and many of us are now on a walk and keep fit campaign. Therefore as discussed, can you pencil in the 24th and 25th February 2009 for a follow up visit. However, I still believe your scales were incorrect, and that may cholesterol CANNOT be that high!

I would personally like to thank Apple Wellbeing for the professional manner in which they carried out The Health Initiative in our Specsavers Crystal Peaks branch during August 2008. It would be fair to say it delivered much more value than we expected and the continuing effects on the business and staff are very positive.

Health Assessments and Consultation

Over the 3 days more than 50 of our employees received a comprehensive Health Assessment and Consultation, for most of them it was the first time their wellbeing had ever been assessed in any real detail. The bonus for most people was fully understanding what tests were being undertaken, what precisely was being measured and more importantly how the results related to their personal wellbeing. The immediate feedback was powerful and the full report received within the following 5 days was appreciated by all involved.

An additional benefit was the accompanying literature that was relevant to areas of concern for individuals which was designed to reinforce good behaviour and changes to negative behaviour.

Specsavers Company Profile

The Company Profile has proved to be an indispensable tool in helping to ensure we are focusing on initiatives that will deliver the maximum benefits from our wellbeing programme. The data in the report relating to the rest of the employed population has meant the team have all had access electronically to objective statistics to enable accurate assessment of results.

Motivation

The Apple Wellbeing “Super Specsavers Man and Woman” created by using the optimal results gathered from the assessments is proving to be a great motivational idea. Our employees now have the opportunity to compare themselves against this ideal model without compromising the confidentiality of their own results, well done.

Reassessments

The staff are already keenly anticipating their reassessments, it is very encouraging to hear them discussing the physical activity they are involved in and their remarks on kg’s already lost.

Benefits

The organisation and administration of the assessments was excellent, with no disruption to the day to day operation of our busy facility.

Apple Wellbeing came into North East Derbyshire District Council and provided glucose and cholesterol testing for 53 individuals in one day and further ones are being organised for additional colleagues. Apple Wellbeing`s approach has been `can do` and they have been accommodating to the needs of the organisation. Feedback from colleagues who have had a test has been that Apple Wellbeing have been professional whilst explaining the results of their tests in language that has been understandable and clear.

I was approached by Apple to consider health assessments for our staff team as part of an overall health benefit system we had introduced. It seemed an ideal opportunity to encourage employees to take a proactive view to their health, and be guided as to the various ways to address any problems they were experiencing. We are a small organisation (30 staff) so funding is always a challenge, and any absence from work has a significant impact on our work and other colleagues too. We have had three assessments now over the past 18 months, and a healthier way of living is starting to emerge. Not all our employees participate, it's very much a voluntary experience but is also been made available to family members and partners. I have seen a dramatic difference in our staff who have had the assessments, not only has it informed them about their state of health but has also shown them how they can make positive changes with small adjustments to their diet, exercise pattern and outlook. I would encourage any employer to consider using this scheme; it can be difficult to know what to do to alert staff to taking action to improve their wellbeing, and I believe that with Apple Wellbeing, and our staff, we have a 3-way approach that makes a real difference.

I was not expecting my first health assessment to be such an eye opener in terms of my health. I had never consciously stopped exercising and thought I was quite active and that I had a reasonable diet. Well I was quite wrong. My cholesterol was very high and I was heavier than I had realised, I'd even managed to lose an inch in height and had suffered from a bad lower back and had neck pain for years.

The assessment spurred me into action, three assessments and just over a year on from that initial shock, I am now in great shape, I have have normal cholesterol, I am my ideal weight and have regained my inch. I was so pleased to be told by the assessors that for me now, it's just maintenance!

I will never go back, the knock on affect has been astounding, I feel so much better, my partner and family have also taken to exercise and have a much better diet and they are much healthier too.

I cannot recommend this initiative more highly and I can quite honestly say that I haven't felt this good in years.
