What CAN be Achieved

Early in 2008 Apple Wellbeing visited a company who provide a varied range of engineering services and solutions and carried out full health screenings and consultations for members of staff.

Six months later Apple Wellbeing revisited the company and carried out full follow up health screenings. Once the second set of health screenings had been completed, comparisons between results could be drawn and presented to the MD of the company.

The results achieved were staggering:

  • 20% improvement in individuals suffering from systolic hypertension (high systolic blood pressure).
  • 17% showed improvement in resting heart rates under 70 bpm.
  • 23% imporvement in resting heart rates between 50 - 59 bpm.
  • 15% improvement in the amount of individuals exceeding their upper limits for body fat %.
  • 17% improvement in inidividuals exceeding their upper limit for waist to hip ratio.
  • 21% improvement in individuals suffering from poor lung capacity.
  • 7% improvement in people completing 3 or more hours of exercise a week.
  • 13% improvement in individuals exceeding their upper limit for weekly alcohol consumption.
  • 12% improvement in the amount of people exceeding minimum requirements for handgrip strength.
  • 31% improvement in individuals suffering with cholesterol levels above 5 mmol/l.
  • But more importantly, 49% improvement in individuals suffering with cholesterol levels above 6 mmol/l.

Although great strides have been made in between health screenings, there are still areas of health that can be improved:

  • 77% of individuals are still exceeding their upper limit for body fat %.
  • 65% of individuals are still exceeding cholesterol levels of 5 mmol/l.
  • 65% of individuals are still not completing 3 or more hours of exercise a week.

Therefore, targets to improve in these areas were set to be achieved by the next follow up screening in 6 months time.
